7th Pay Commission – No Proposal to extend Revised Pay of Contract Employees.
Minister of State (MoS) for Finance, Arjun Singh Meghwal, made it clear that the salaries of contract workers and employees would not be rescaled according to the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission.
The National Joint Council of Action (NJCA), National Confederation of Central Government Employees & Workers, along with other staff side unions had demanded the regularization of contractual workers, apart from revision of their minimum salary as per the recommendations of 7th Pay Commision.
According to report of 7th Pay Commission submitted by Justice (retd) AK Mathur, the minimum salary of central government employees have been scaled to Rs 18,000. Under the 6th Pay Commission, the basic minimum pay was Rs 7,000. However, the salaries of contractual employees have not been raised.
In the recently concluded session in Parliament, MoS Finance Arjun Meghwal was asked whether the salaries of contract employees would be scaled in accordance with the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission. His reply was published by Lok Sabha today. Meghwal made it clear that no proposal is under consideration to hike the salaries of central government employees according to the 7CPC report.
“There is no proposal at present under consideration to extend revised pay based on the 7th Central Pay Commission, as accepted by the Government in case of regular Central Government employees, in regard to contract employees,” he was quoted as saying.
National Confederation of Central Government Employees have planned a nationwide strike on February 15, demanding the fulfillment of their 21-point-charter of demands. One of their demands is the regularization of contract workers and raising their minimum salary to Rs 18,000.
