Special stamp on freedom fighter Gaya Prasad Katiyar released

Department of Posts has brought out a special stamp on freedom fighter Gaya Prasad Katiyar. 

Besides, it has unveiled a set of eight commemorative postage stamps on 'Personalities Series: Bihar' and a stamp on Hardayal Municipal Heritage Public Library in the City.

The stamps were released by Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare. 

The Department has commemorated great deeds and achievements of following eight personalities of Bihar by releasing stamps on them, an official statement said. 

These include Dr Sachchidananda Sinha (lawyer and journalist), Karpoori Thakur (politician), Dashrath Manjhi (known for carving a path through a hillock using only a hammer and chisel), Vidyapati (Maithili poet), Kailashpati Mishra (politician), Kunwar Singh (freedom fighter), Phanishwar Nath Renu (writer) and Krishna Sinha (first Chief Minister of Bihar). 

Located in the heart of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, Hardayal Municipal Public Library was set up in 1862. It has a unique collection of more than 1,70,000 books in Hindi, English, Urdu, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit.
