GST – List of New of GST Commissionerates and report on Re-Organisation of Central Excise and Service Tax Departments (CBEC) for GST Implementation
Finance Ministry has geared up for implementation of Goods & Services Tax (GST) from 1st July 2017. Shri Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister has approved the detailed report prepared by HRD of CBEC on re-organisation of field formations of CBEC for effective implementation of GST.
DGHRD, CBEC has issued an order in this regard.The Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) is being renamed as Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIT) after legislative approval.
CBIT will have 21 zones, 101 GST Commissionerates comprising 15 sub-commissionerates, 768 Divisions, 3969 Ranges. There will be 49 Audit Commissionerates and 50 Appeal Commissionerates, as reported by sources

Order
The Report on Re-organisation of CBEC Field Formations in GST Regime has been approved by the Hon ‘ble Finance Minister. The reorganisation of CBEC formations
Cornmissionerates and Sub Commissionerates, Audit and Appeal Commissionerates and the number of Divisions and Ranges to be formed under each State / Union Territory, as approved by the Competent Authority, are detailed in the Annexure to this Order.
The location and strength of the Directorates formed / strengthened will be in accordance with the proposal, as approved by the Competent Authority.
The Notification to this effect will be issued in the first week of May 2017 and the reorganised formations will become operational from first of June 2017
