BHIM-Aadhaar App launched on Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Modi promises housing for all by 2022: Highlights
Nagpur, April 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the BHIM-Aadhaar App in Nagpur on the occasion of the 126th birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He also awarded the Mega Draw winners of Lucky Grahak Yojana and DigiDhan Vyapar Yojna. Earlier in the day, PM Modi also launched a series of development projects in Nagpur. The development projects include IIIT, IIM & AIIMS and launch of Koradi Thermal Power Station.
While addressing the public, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the efforts made by Dr Ambedkar for the welfare of the Dalits. “One can lead a happy life without feeling oppressed by bad experiences. This has been taught to us by Dr Ambedkar,” PM said. He also said that though Ambedkar faced many challenges, but he had never showcased any kind of bitterness. Speaking about the rise of thermal power projects, he said that energy sector is of great vitality in the 21st century and it is a necessity for the development of India.
Taking his address further, the PM said, “People of India gave their lives so that India attains freedom. Our freedom is the result of the sacrifices made by several greats.”Dedicating the BHIM-Aadhaar App to the youth of the nation, PM Modi said, “I want that by 2022, every person has a shelter on his head along with easy access to the basic necessities of life.” (ALSO READ: BHIM-Aadhaar App: All you need to know)
Hardening the need for a digital push, PM Modi also said that soon the functions in the government offices and banks will go paperless. “The BHIM App is positively impacting several lives across the nation,” he said. The PM also took a dig at the Opposition for questioning the launch of DigiDhan and said that even the most-technologically advanced nation does not has a facility similar to India. “Digidhan is a medium to free India from corruption and black money,” said PM Modi. He also invited the youth of the nation to help connect more and more people with the BHIM-Aadhaar App. “If any person introduces another to the BHIM-Aadhaar App then, the government will deposit Rs 10 into his account,” he said while informing that this offer will continue till October 14, with effect from today.
PM Narendra Modi also released Commemorative postal stamp on ‘Deekshabhoomi of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’ in Nagpur.
Speaking at the event, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing Nagpur for the launch of the BHIM-Aadhaar App.
The BHIM Aadhaar AAP will enable Indian citizens to pay digitally by using biometric data like a thumb impression to traders on any biometric capable device that includes a smartphone, which has a biometric reader. As per a Government statement, “Any citizen who does not have a smartphone, internet, debit or credit card will also be able to make digital transactions through Bhim-Aadhaar App, making sure Ambedkar’s dream of social and financial empowerment is realised for everyone.” So far, 27 major banks have become part of this initiative with 3 lakh traders so that they can start accepting payments through the App.
