DoP releases special cover on ‘Raksha Bandhan’
The specially-designed envelop is priced at ₹25
This Raksha Bandhan, you can send rakhis to your beloved brothers wrapped in a customised cover as the Department of Posts launched special envelopes to suit the auspicious festival on Thursday.
With 160 GSM paper, the special cover has the images of rakhis on the left corner of the envelope, epitomising the significance of the ensuing festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters.
The specially-designed cover with ₹5 stamp is priced at ₹25. “As a part of the limited edition, we received 1,000 covers. However, depending on the demand, the quantity will be increased soon,” says M. Hari Prasad Sarma, Senior Superintendent of Post Office, Visakhapatnam.
Mr. Sarma said in the age of digital age, the customised envelopes aim at sustaining people’s interest in postal products. “The objective is also to build bonds and revive tradition. This apart, to suit the occasion, care will be taken to facilitate a hassle-free delivery with extra speed sans additional cost,” Mr. Sarma said.
In addition to the Head Post Office, Velampata, the special covers are also available at post offices located in MVP Colony, Gajuwaka, Gopalapatnam and other areas.
Philatelists, who arrived at the Head Post Office, Velampata to participate in the special cover launch programme termed the designer cover as philatelists’ delight.
They said the quality paper used to design the envelope would help in dispatching the rakhis to various destinations without any damage.
