Existing System of Filing Income Tax Returns Extended For Three Months
New Delhi, Mar 10: Existing system of filing returns has been extended for another three months, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Saturday after the 26th GST Council meet. He also added that a Group of Ministers on the Income Tax will look into it and consult tax experts among others. Implementation of reverse charge mechanism has also been extended by three months. Jaitley also said that the e-way Bill will be implemented from April 1 for inter-state movement of goods.
“Intra-state e-Way Bill will be rolled out in phased manner with four groups of states. Each group will come under it every week after April 1 and efforts will be made to implement it across the country by April end,” Jaitley said.
Earlier in January, the Finance Minister had said that the implementation of the e-way bill for intra and inter-state movement of goods would start from February 1. A total of 15 states had agreed to implement it on a trial basis. However, the trial was deferred due to technical glitches on the official website.
