Maharashtra Senior Citizens Age-Limit Act 2017
Age Limit fixed by the Central
Government for Senior Citizens is 60 years for getting Government facilities,
concessions, benefits like protection of lives and property of Senior Citizens,
entry to old-age homes etc. and pension. But, age limit fixed by the State
Government of Maharashtra is 65 years, for getting Government facilities,
concessions and pension.
Due to this, many Senior Citizens in
the State of Maharashtra between the ages of 60 to 65 years are deprived from
getting these Government facilities, concessions and pension. It is causing
injustice to them. Considering the service done by these Senior Citizens to
society and nation it is necessary for them to receive Government facilities,
concessions, benefits and pension during the period of their old age, between
60 to 65 years. Hence the State Government of Maharashtra has enacted
Maharashtra Senior Citizens Age-Limit Act 2017 and published the same on March
31, 2017.
This Act shall apply to the Citizens
who have been continuously residing in the State of Maharashtra, having age of
60 years or more than that.
