DDG Instructions For Preventive Measure To Contain The Spread Of COVID-19 Dated 22.03.2020
Following instructions have issued to the circles with the approval of the competent authority.
In view of spread of corona virus and suspension of mail carrying trains and flights, suspension of Metro Trains at several locations and lock down in several states, following instructions are issued with approval of the competent authority:
1 Circle / Regional Heads may decide about opening of Post Offices / Mail offices / NSHs / ICHs / Parcel Hubs / TMOs keeping in view the availability of staff and the instructions of State governments / Local authorities / local situation.
2 Circles may consider restricting booking offices and timings for Speed Post, Registered Post, Parcels and eMos keeping in view the local situation.
3 Booking of international articles is discontinued till further order.
4 Weekly staff rotation policy as circulated by DOP&T should be adopted for Circle and Regional offices. Rest of the staff can work from home.
5 Inter-state RTNs to be suspended till further order in view of the fact that many state governments have stopped the entry of inter-state road transport in the respective states.
6 Since mail carrying trains are not operating till March 31 and several flights are also not operating, closed Mail bags should be kept in safe custody at origin point itself.
7 Now that Mail carrying trains will not be operating till March 31, resultantly no RMS section will be able to work till March 31. RMS sections will resume their work as and when Mail carrying trains starts plying. Circle / Regional Heads may decide to deploy sectional staff elsewhere ensuring the convenience of the staff.
8 MMS schedules should be regulated keeping in view the local situation.
9 Likely delay in delivery of articles booked at counters may be prominently displayed in post offices and counters and customers may be advised accordingly.
10 Payment of Old age pension at door steps may however, continue.
11 Bulk /BNPL bookings is discontinued till March 31. Bulk customers may be informed by the circles in this regard.
12 Post offices may use thermal scanning for customers.
13 All delivery staff / counter staff may be provided with masks, hand sanitizers and soaps.
14 Regular disinfection of Post offices / Mail offices should be undertaken.
15 All instructions issued in this regard by the Ministry of Health and family welfare, State Governments and Local authorities should be followed.
