RAILWAYS be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Railways has announced for establishment of new railway zone called South Coast Railway (SCoR) with headquarters at Visakhapatnam;

(b) whether the Railways has reconsidered their decision to retain Waltair division with the proposed South Coast Railway in view of the administrative and technical reasons; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) : Yes, Sir.

(b) & (c): The decision for formation of a new Railway Zone viz. South Coast Railway (SCoR) with headquarters at Visakhapatnam and a new division with headquarters at Rayagada, in lieu of existing Waltair division by reorganizing the existing South Central Railway and East Coast Railway, has been taken after due consideration taking all relevant factors into account including administrative and operational requirements.
