Subject: Launch of "Magazine Post"

All India Magazine(AlM) Association had requested Department of Posts to design a new product for booking and delivery of the magazines in the country. Several magazine publishers under the aegis of AIM have indicated their willingness to pay additional amount of postage if tracking facilities and SMS alerts in respect of delivery of magazines are ensured by India Post.

AIM has also assured to increase the volume of booking of magazines in India Post if such a new product is designed to meet their requirements.

2. Business Development Directorate after several rounds of discussions with the representatives of AIM and taking into consideration their requirements has designed the product "Magazine Post" having following features:

1. The Magazines posted under 'Magazine Post' will have end to end tracking facility.
2. The magazines will be posted at Paper Sorting Office (PSO)/ L-l unregistered Office at 10 identified locations in the country, i.e. Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, Lucknow, and Bhopal.
3. SMS alert facility to the subscribers will be made available.
4. Each magazine publisher will be provided separate barcode series which need to be printed on the envelope of the Magazines. 
5. Delivery under "Magazine Post" will be address specific
6. BNPL and Advance payment facility will be extended under 'Magazine Post'.

3. i. The rates at which the Magazines will be booked are as under:

ii. Local Rates will apply for delivery in Delhi and NCR (Municipal limits of Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, NOIDA including Greater NOIDA) and in case of Mumbai, it would include Thane and Navi Mumbai.

4. The rates indicated in para 3 above will apply only for those magazines which are posted under 'Magazine Post' and will be valid for one year from the date of all India launch. No volume discount under BNPL scheme or rebate under the scheme of Advance Payment is admissible under Magazine Post.

5. The Pilot launch of the service will start from 01.03.2022 from Delhi for delivery in Delhi and NCR (Municipal limits of Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, NOIDA including Greater NOIDA) and Mumbai for delivery in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

6. All India launch of 'Magazine Post' at the 10 identified locations is likely to start from 0r.04.2022
