Success Story – Ms. Naraini Devi: Receipt of Pension Arrears of Rs. 1,63,017/- by widow after 1 year.
Background
Ms. Naraini Devi, from a small village in Rohtak, Haryana, faced financial difficulties after her husband, Late Sepoy Ram Mehar Singh, passed away. He had served in the Indian Army and later worked in the Ministry of Defence, entitling him to dual pensions from both the Army and the Civil Department.
Pension Disruption
Until January 2023, Ms. Devi received both pensions. However, in February 2023, her Civil pension was migrated to the SPARSH Portal, and her Army pension was stopped by the bank. Despite her efforts, including seeking help from the District Sainik Welfare Board, she could not restore the Army pension, leaving her in financial distress.
Filing a Grievance
Her son discovered the CPENGRAMS portal and filed a grievance on September 3, 2023 (DOPPW/E/2023/0039068). This case was forwarded to the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) for review and resolution.
Resolution
After careful examination, the PCDA informed the Central Pension Processing Centre (CPPC) of Punjab National Bank on December 28, 2023, that the Civil pension had been transferred to the SPARSH Portal, but the Army pension was pending transfer. They instructed the bank to take necessary action to ensure payment of the arrears.
Outcome
As a result, Ms. Naraini Devi received arrears amounting to Rs. 1,63,017, alleviating her financial hardship. This case highlights the effectiveness of the CPENGRAMS portal in resolving pension-related issues and providing relief to beneficiaries.
